Suvendi Chinnappen Rimer received her BSc Electrical Engineering and Higher Diploma in Computer Science degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand. She completed her Masters and PhD degrees in Computer Engineering at the University of Pretoria. She also has a Masters in Business Administration from Bond University. Suvendi was employed as a Lecturer at the University of Pretoria between 2002 and 2004. She was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Johannesburg from 2005 to the present. Her current research is primarily focused on wireless sensor network applications primarily in precision agriculture, Home area Networks and other applications of wireless sensor networks in the Smart Grid and the application of Near Field Communication (NFC) in e-Health applications. Her research combines hardware and software implementation as well as developing novel theoretical models to enhance wireless communication in sensor networks.
